Furlan Marri was founded in Geneva in 2021 by Swiss industrial designer Andrea Furlan and passionate collector Hamad Al Marri. The brand has rapidly ascended from Kickstarter sensation to a respected voice in contemporary watchmaking. From the outset, Furlan Marri positioned itself not merely as another micro-brand, but as a storyteller. The company’s founders fused distinct creative leanings of Furlan’s design acuity and Al Marri’s collector’s sensibilities into a coherent vision of watches that honor the classic elegance of vintage timepieces while making Swiss craftsmanship accessible to a broader audience.
Recognition came early. In the same year it launched, Furlan Marri captured the Horological Revelation Prize at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, one of the industry’s highest honors for rising brands, which helped cement its legitimacy in a crowded market.
With a homage to mid-century chronographs, the brand quickly eclipsed its funding goals. Critics and enthusiasts alike were struck by the designs’ emotional resonance through case proportions, dial layout and typography that evoked the golden era of the 1940s and ’50s without feeling derivative. The initial models leaned on mecha-quartz movements, a hybrid that bridges the crisp precision of quartz with the tactile engagement of mechanical chronographs, which was a strategic choice that kept pricing competitive, while preserving character. It is said that Furlan Marri’s use of this movement has propelled its use into the ‘acceptable’ column of watchmakers.
For many collectors, the appeal lies not just in the vintage aesthetic but in the thoughtful execution of multi-faceted cases with rich brushed and polished surfaces, sector dials that play with depth and texture, and balanced proportions that wear elegantly on the wrist.
If you aren’t taken by the style and depth at first glance, then you are simply not a watch guy. Buy one while you can.
